Space Blanket
Space Blanket is a premium range of ‘encapsulated’ glass mineral wool products for use between ceiling joists or on top of existing insulation. The sleeved encapsulation is a part metallised polythene film that reflects heat and makes them extra easy and comfortable to install. They are also ‘compression packed’ for less handling and expand when unrolled.

ECOSE® Technology
Knauf Insulation mineral wool products with ECOSE Technology are made with a formaldehyde-free binder derived from rapidly renewable materials, instead of traditional petro-based chemicals used in other insulation.
ECOSE Technology is up to 70% less energy intensive than traditional binders. Complementing the new sustainability benefits, the patented ECOSE Technology also produces a ‘super-soft’ and easier to handle wool. The technology has been developed for Knauf Insulation’s glass and rock mineral wool products, enhancing their environmental credentials without affecting the thermal, acoustic or fire performance.
Insulation products made with ECOSE Technology contain no dye or artificial colours – the colour is completely natural.
Installation Instructions
For safety, work from suitable 'crawling boards' spanning three joists.
Step 1- Start from the eaves ensuring the wall plate is covered and work towards the center of the loft, placing 100mm between the joists (on top of any existing insulation in place). Butt joint where necessary. Insulation should finish level with the top of the ceiling joists.
Step 2- When space along the joists is filled, the end of the roll can be turned back to start an extra layer of insulation or may be cut to size.
Step 3- Layer insulation to the required thickness ensuring the ceiling beneath is completely covered except directly under the water tank, unless the water tank is in an elevated position above the insulation layer(s).
Step 4- Where the depth of previously installed insulation has reached the tops of the joists, extra heat saving is gained by 'cross layering' (at right angles to joists) with 150mm or 170mm Space Blanket (or 200mm for even higher energy savings).

Don't forget! Lay Space Blanket silver side up
Tanks & Pipes
Fasten loft insulation all around and on top of your cold water tank to protect from freezing. Do Not insulate directly underneath the water tank. Wrap water pipes to protect from frost.
Electricals
Insulation must not be laid over electric cables. Carefully, lift electrical cables above the insulation so that they do not overheat. Ensure there are no loose or disconnected wires and re-route them if necessary. Insulation should be kept at least 75mm away from recessed light fittings and hot flues to prevent them from overheating.
