Space Board Eco
Space Board ECO is a high performance extruded polystyrene insulation board to provide an insulated storage deck in your loft. This energy saving product prevents heat loss through the roof of your home. Space Board ECO provides a solid storage deck (in combination with chipboard decking), making it ideal in combination with SPACE BLANKET or SPACE LOFT ROLL.

Installation Instructions
For safety, work from suitable 'crawling boards' spanning three joists.
Space Board ECO can be installed either in an empty loft or over existing chipboard.

INSTALLING SPACE BOARD ECO IN AN EMPTY LOFT
Step 1- Ensure 100mm Space Blanket/Space Loft Roll is installed between and flush with the top of the ceiling joists.
Step 2- Apply a bead of glue to the joists and lay Space Board ECO at right angles to the joists in the designated storage area. Each Space Board ECO should be typically supported by 3 joists.
Step 3- Lay second layer of Space Board ECO over first layer, stagger the boards and glue all joints, lay chipboard deck and glue all joints in the deck.
Step 4- Install 200mm Space Blanket or 170mm Space Loft Roll around the storage area (i.e. over ceiling joists). Note: Ensure ceiling joists can bear extra loads due to storage.
Electrical cables should be located above the new deck
INSTALLING SPACE BOARD ECO OVER EXISTING CHIPBOARD
Step 1- Remove all stored goods and coverings from existing loft chipboards and brush clean.
Step 2- Lay Space Board ECO over existing chipboard.
Step 3- Lay second layer of Space Board ECO over first layer, stagger the boards and glue all joints to ensure a flat, secure deck
Step 4- Install 200mm Space Blanket or 170mm Space Loft Roll around the storage area (i.e. over ceiling joists). Note: Ensure ceiling joists can bear extra loads due to storage.
Electrical cables should be located above the new deck
TANKS & PIPES
Fasten loft insulation all around and on top of your cold water tank to protect from freezing. Do Not insulate directly underneath the water tank. Wrap water pipes to protect from frost.
Electricals
Insulation must not be laid over electric cables. Carefully, lift electrical cables above the insulation so that they do not overheat. Ensure there are no loose or disconnected wires and re-route them if necessary. Insulation should be kept at least 75mm away from recessed light fittings and hot flues to prevent them from overheating.
